10×10” spray paint and india ink on a stretched canvas

Here’s prototype for the Bulbous Killa stenciled canvas. The yellow was done in spray paint and the black was done in Black Cat India Ink sprayed through an airbrush.

Next time I’m going to use regular black spray paint for the following reasons. First, to get a solid black I needed to apply several coats. Because the ink doesn’t dry very fast, the stencil became saturated and began curl and pull away from the canvas, even though it was stuck on with spray adhesive. Second, the India Ink cracks and is still patchy.

I was hoping that the airbrush was going to be a good way to get a nice matte black without the fumes of spray print it doesn’t look like that’s going to be the case.

With that said, I’m still pretty happy with it.
